INVERSION OF THE DIRECTION OF ROTATION

The direction of rotation of a motor depends on the direction of the magnetic field and the direction of the current in the armature (rotor). By reversing the direction of the field or current, the motor rotation will also be reversed, but if both are inverted at the same time the motor will continue to rotate in the same direction alemite 8072-b. It is necessary to change the field or armature links, but not both at the same time. On large machines, manufacturers usually provide an easy way to reverse field connections.

When the conductor is placed in a magnetic field, it is dominated by a force resulting from the combination of its magnetic field with the main magnetic field. This force causes the armature to rotate in one direction. If the direction of the field or the current direction in the armature is inverted, the motor rotation will also be inverted. However, if both are reversed at the same time, the motor will continue to have the same direction of rotation. In general the motors are installed to operate with a sense of constant rotation, but there are occasions when it is necessary to change the direction of rotation.
